Self-striping sock yarn and sideways knit shawls are two of my favorite things in knitting; this shawl brings them together in one fun to knit project, and easy to wear design. You cast on at one edge, sail through in garter stitch self-striping with some basic increases until you get to the center where this simple threaded rib pattern creates a beautiful focus before you go back to your self-striping yarn and whoosh to the finish!
This pattern has been tech edited & test knit so you can knit on with confidence, but if you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to message me. Pattern also contains a link to a video tutorial that shows how to do the slipped stitch technique used in this pattern.

About the Name
Millie (my 9 year old niece) is the youngest of her siblings and was the element of pure delight that we didn’t notice was missing from her family until she came along and made them complete. Millie is full cheer and smiles. She’s constantly ready for a hug and always wants that squeeze to last just a bit longer. She’s ready to welcome friends and strangers alike, ready to learn and grow and bring joy into this world. Millie is named after her great-great-aunt, Carmela Natale (who went by Milly), a beautiful, strong Italian American woman who brought much happiness to our entire family. Milly & Millie are both ladies who brought and bring much happiness to this world, and it’s fitting that this pattern is knit primarily in Knit Picks Felici– felici being the plural for “happy” in Italian. I hope you’ll find this shawl named for her as delightful and happy as little Millie herself.
