Marathon Spring Cleaning  – runs from  March 1, 2015 to April 20, 2015

 

  • Goal: Use as much leftover/ scrap yarn as you can during this time.  Only scrap/ partial skein yardage counts.
  • Along with your Cast-On post must be a photo of the leftover/scrap yarns you will be using.  You will keep one continual post through the KAL – updating with each new project and keeping track of total leftover / scrap yardage used.
  • We have opened a Chat Thread in Ravelry forum to discuss about project ideas. In Lisa’s first post I’ve linked to a number of different patterns that will work well for scraps.  If you have other ideas, come chat in the thread and I’ll keep adding to the list.

On a Happy Note
  • Easter in my family is always an adventure. This year was the first one for which I hid the kids eggs. The adults did a 6 pack swap!
  • My niece Riley and I had a girls day out for her birthday

  • Knit from my well curated stash. Start of year- 96 skeins in Stash.
    • As of Episode 65- used up 10 from stash and 11 new skeins
    • #Stashdownthrowdown on IG if you want to play along
  • Challenge myself more (no update)
  • Publish at least 2 if not more patterns in 2015–and actively work on design work every week.
    • I’ll have a new shawl design out very soon!
    • Knit for me (meaning knit at least 10 more things for me and keep the ratio from 2014)– so far so good!

  • Welcoming the Stranger: Building Understanding Through Community Based Art is a site-specific artwork. As part of the installation, volunteer weavers and community participants will create a 50’ x 10’ weaving. City-wide weaving events will take place at locations throughout Portland, Maine from May 1 to June 15, 2015. This community weaving – “Abraham’s Tent” – will then be exhibited at the Maine Jewish Museum.
  • They are seeking donations of at least 42” lengths of yarn (handspun preferred) or other yarn – any gauge, any color, something meaningful to you. Non-traditional fiber materials will be accepted. Your yarn and a tag with your family’s country of origin will be “woven” into the panels in “Abraham’s Tent.”
  • Post an image of your yarn donation on the Prize Thread in the Abraham’s Tent Group on Ravelry.com. See Ravelry for details of prizes.
  • When: February 14 – April 30, 2015
  • What: Yarn – minimum of 42” lengths of yarn – any gauge, any color, non traditional materials accepted. Please include your name, email address and your family’s country of origin.$1.00 bill or check made to Welcoming the Stranger Fund a 501 (c)(3). Funds will used to defray costs of processing yarn and name tags.

Some Basics about the Woolly Trot 5K.
• Participants have 1 Week to complete their run or walk and submit their time. May 24-May 30
• There are no prizes based on speed of times, but prizes are going to be given by random number generator to those who submit their times.
• There are options on the funding site to grab some cool swag, such as T-shirts, Drawstring Backpacks, and Race Medals! – (More items will be added if there is a large draw for them such as water bottles, tumblers, coffee cups, keychains, etc)
• There options for sponsorship as well which is a great way to get some exposure for some fiber businesses.
