Brainstorming

I’m dreaming up another crochet blanket using a gradient kit for the centers of each square! I think I’ll be on the look out for a gradient at Stitches Midwest. If you know of any indies who sell them, let me know.

My sister-in-law started a new job and asked for a blue and cream coaster for her desk. Need to search my scraps and look for ideas. Any pattern suggestions?

For those of you who may be new this is a KAL that runs along the NFL football season (Sept-Feb) and it’s a ton of fun!!!

I am putting out a call for sponsors. This year we’re going to do things a little differently.
I am looking for 10 headline sponsors for the 2015 Down Cellar Studio Pigskin Party KAL.
  • Headline Sponsors will be mentioned on every show between start and end of football season
  • Last year that was 12 episodes with an average of 3300 listeners per episode in 2014
  • Must donate:
    • 1 prize/prize pack for grand prize (at least a $40 value)
    • $15 paypal donation to podcast to cover shipping and other associated cost
    • Optional: donate smaller prize for participation and random giveaways during season.
    • Optional: discount code to get people ready in August

Headline Sponsors must commit by September 1st. The first 10 who commit are guaranteed a spot.

Not ready to be a headline sponsor? That’s ok too! We are also looking for sponsors for participation prizes and and random interceptions throughout season. If you’re interested, please contact me via email at downcellarstudio@gmail.com or check out website for full details!

Knitting in Passing
  • On June 19th I met named Ed from Russia. He told me stories about his family living in the tundra with absolutely nothing around. He said his mom knit everything for his family. Sweaters. Socks. Hats. Gloves. Everything! He said he think it’s what kept her sane because it was so silent.
  • Mislissa, Melissa from MA, shared on our Ravelry group that she had used my advice for teaching kids to knit…. She said  “I have to thank you a thousand times over. I did what you said, planning the right project to bring with me when I knew my nieces would be around. The 6 year old asked me what I was working on (like she always does) and after I told her I asked if she wanted to try. At first she said no, but then my son said yes so he did a few stitches sitting my my lap. After she saw him do it she was ready. She did about 10 or so stitches and was ready to be done. Then I had the 4 year old and the 20 month old take turns on my lap doing hand over hand. It was awesome. So much less stress than trying to teach for independence. They all loved it and I can see doing this every week when we get together until they are truly old enough (and interested enough) to do it themselves. It was so nice being able to share my craft with my nieces. They are my husband’s sisters kids so there’s always been a little distance between us but this more than made up for it.”

On a Happy Note
  • I’m still wearing a walking cast to help my left Achilles get better. Hoping to be out of it in time for Stitches Midwest in Augustimage
  • 4th of July weekend– 3 cookouts with family and friends!
  • Celebrating my nephew Oisin’s birthday!
  • Looking forward to my upcoming stay-cation!
